REFLECTIONS
Working on Yubari over the past weeks has been both a creative and
strategic learning experience. From early brainstorming sessions to
developing our customer journey map, I’ve learned how important it is to
align every task with the brand story and user needs. The process of
creating user personas, gathering insights, and conducting interviews
gave me a deeper understanding of how diverse our audience is and how
their lifestyles shape their expectations.
Visiting the company and testing the original product added a new
dimension to my design thinking. It reminded me that a product is more
than its aesthetics, it’s about the emotions and routines it becomes
part of. Translating these insights into our How Might We questions,
brand values, and big idea allowed us to build a more engaging and
emotionally resonant concept.
There were challenges along the way; aligning visuals with our customer
journey, refining our art direction for consistency, and planning
content with real launch scenarios in mind. However, these pushed me to
improve my communication, organisation, and visual planning skills.
Using tools like Figma for our microsite and app design, and developing
marketing materials like Instagram posts, packaging visuals, and
QR-linked educational content, taught me how branding extends into every
touchpoint of the customer experience.
As we neared our final presentation, I’m proud of how our team has
evolved Yubari from just a product idea into a lifestyle concept. More
than anything, I’ve learned that design is about creating connections,
between a product and its user, between a brand and its community, and
between an idea and the emotions it inspires. My team nailed the
presentation off the park and the client seems to feel the same! Our
efforts and chemistry as a team showed and that's worth it for me.
