INSTRUCTIONS

PROJECT 1(A): Sound Dubbing

By watching the movie Everything Everywhere All At Once, we need to do a dubbing version of a scene. As I was constantly absent in the last weeks, I have reach out to my friends and one of them sent me over a version of their spreadsheet of the sound effects and timeline. Though when I was working on it, I changed a lot and only kept some of theirs minimally.

Waymond was voiced by my partner, and I voiced both the Auditor and Evelyn.

For both female voices, I used some pitch shifter as my own voice sounds too youthful compared to hers in the movie.

For Auditor, I replicated her accent and was very surprised to hear that it sounds quite legit compared to the original!

I found the footsteps a little hard to find as the Auditor had her own pace and rhythm, so it may have sounded a little janky.

This is my final result:

PROJECT 1(B): SOUND SHAPING

We were tasked to shape our voices for 5 seconds using Adobe Audition. As my mother tongue is Cantonese, I proceeded to do a version where I checked in on someone and see if they're good.

We needed to do 5 Sound Shapes;
- Phone Call
- In a closet/Muffled
- Bathroom
- Underground Cave
- Alien/Orc

REFLECTIONS

Sound Dubbing Project

For Sound Dubbing, I took it so serious too heart that I forced my partner to star as Waymond, and we took a lot of tries to get the dub. We thought we had to really mimic the dub to a tee, but was surprised that it really matched well to the video. This project was really fun for me, because I always had some interest in voiceovers and dubbing.

Sound Shaping Project

For this part, it has been quite fulfilling for me as I was able to express myself in Cantonese, and I had a lot of fun exploring the different sounds and trying to mimic the surroundings. I hope I would be able to use these techniques for my Final Project.
