INSTRUCTIONS

According to the Module Information Booklet (MIB), we are to:
  • Work in a pair
  • Reuse either one's Project 1 Poster as a reference to make a 60 sec video
  • Document the process and final outcome on e-Portfolio

PROJECT 1: INSTRUCRABLE INFOGRAPHICS ANIMATION

PROCESS

For this task, I'm paired up with my friend, Bertrand! We've decided to use his instructable poster for this final project as his poster was much more dense and had more information to extract from. His poster was from Pasta Grannies YouTube Channel, with the video about a grannies' pardulas, and how she uses her apiary (bee farm) to create a glaze for her pardulas to be dipped upon. Because of this specialty, we also felt good moving forward using her video with bees!

All the mood board and art direction can be found on Bertrand's Blog

We've initially met up to discuss about the storyboard, since the instructions for this project requires us to work on 60 seconds, we've managed to split the it to start working on the draft.

Cleaner version of planned storyboard, with timing carefully planned

We agreed to leave the first part to Bertrand for the draft, and I'll come up with the 2nd half of the methods of the draft.

Draft Video (my part, 42 seconds)

Since Bertrand already has the assets on his end, we got started on the animation pretty quickly. I helped to provide the background music and possible sound effects and we are done with the video!

REFLECTIONS

Thank you Bertrand for your amazing Project 1 and work on this project!
Working on my final project using After Effects to create an infographic animation about Verina's Pardulas was both challenging and rewarding. I learned how to translate a simple, everyday process into a visually engaging and structured narrative, focusing on timing, hierarchy, and clarity with Bertrand!. It pushed me to think about how information can guide understanding besides just aesthetics. While I faced difficulties with pacing and transitions, the process helped me improve my technical skills and storytelling ability. Overall, it was a valuable experience that strengthened my confidence in information design! Apologies to Mr Kannan as I didn't really show up to classes (I was always sick and there were other times where I had to be away) so I really felt bad about not being able to be physical, but I'm glad that things still worked out in the end!
